Day One...

We woke up somewhat early after not getting to the house until late and getting settled in.  Abdu went out to get something to make for breakfast. Yes he can cook when he wants to.  He doesn’t really like to do it but he knows that I haven’t really cooked and certainly cannot cook traditional Ugandan food (yet).  So he went and got some Matoke bananas and greens and onions and made breakfast for us.  I may have to start taking pictures of this stuff so you all can see what I’m talking about and learn along with me.

Abdu was gone most of the afternoon to run errands and coach soccer at a school.  I spent the day trying to organize the house and our things…well mostly my things.  I am quite pleased with how it turned out.  We need to get some hangers so I can hang my dresses and his other shirts.  And we won’t mention the two suitcases under the bed that is holding all of my shirts and other clothes that wouldn’t fit on the shelves…

This evening we went to church (Saved to Serve) for bible study with the children.  Remember the church is mostly all youth.  Abdu tries to have things each evening at the church in an effort to keep the kids out of trouble at night.  There were about 15 kids there and each one had to get up and share a scripture and talk about it for 5 minutes.  Some were prepared some were not because they don't have their own bibles.  Thankfully some dear friends of ours in the US have donated money for us to get bibles for these kids.  They will be distributed Saturday I believe so they have them prior to Sunday service.  What a blessing it will be to these children to be able to read the Word whenever they want.

When we got home Abdu prepared some Irish potatoes in a sort of soup.  It was good and I ate all he gave me...which is progress for me!  Ugandans tend to make heaping plates of food which I can never complete.  Thankfully over time Abdu has learned my limitations and doesn't give me too much.  That's love right there!

I am already feeling a bit spoiled…we have a hot water heater and my fiancé cooked me food today.  There really is nothing like having a hot water heater.  Having a warm shower is such a nice treat after all the trips with cold cold showers.
